About Chicago Sports

The heart and soul of this city is its sports teams. Even as the economy changes the city from the blue collar manufacturing center of the '50s and '60s to the modern white collar business world of the 21^st century, the city has remained a fanatic sports center.

Every season in every sport fans will line up for a chance to see the see their favorite team play. Baseball has two homes in the summer. White Sox tickets keep the South Side enthralled as the team threatens again the AL Central, no matter what the experts predict, and Cubs tickets keep the fan on the North Side happy as they continually await the end of their misery.

As much arguing and occasional fighting this division of the city causes, they all come together when the Chicago Bears take the field. The Bears unite the city in a sea of dark blue and orange in the seats of Soldier Field. Generations of Chicagoans have to this single location, giant toilet bowl added or not, to live and die with the team on the field. Each season the Bears defense quenches the fans' thirst for tough, blue collar football while the offense is hit or miss, drying the ire of sports writers and diehards as the season wears on.

The Bulls and the Blackhawks help bridge the gap between football and baseball. The Bulls are finally on their way out of the dark ages after Jordan, Pippen, Rodman, ad the rest of the championship roster was dismantled in 1998. Similarly, the Blackhawks are beginning to become a respected team once again, a move that is good for the fans at the United Center, who have endured both team's ineptitude over the last decade.

The Bulls have their new star in the making in Derrick Rose and the Blackhawks have their future in Patrick Kane. The teams are hoping that these players are not the latest in draft busts that lead to a disappointing rebuilding session. Chicago sports are as exciting as ever.
